Practising Celebration

It was almost a week ago now but I still can’t get over the baptisms we celebrated at church last week. 3 planned and 2 spontaneous declarations from people who have discovered Jesus and chose to follow him.

As a church family we come to those services ready to celebrate and hear the story of lives transformed by Jesus. These Sundays remind us why we show up every other Sunday, and show up to God every day of our lives with hearts that say “Here I am, use me today”. It’s so that people can see the impact of Jesus on earth. It’s so that they too may discover his love and purpose for them and choose to live life following him.

The service got me thinking about what it would look like to show up each and every Sunday with the anticipation of celebrating as a church family.

Jesus is transforming all of us every day. A God so perfect who owes us nothing chooses to draw near to us when we call on him, this is surely worth celebrating.

So this week wherever you are, take a moment to be grateful and celebrate in some way the overwhelming love you have received from God and the transformative journey he is taking you on, no matter what stage of it you’re at right now.

Celebration is an art and I think we could all get a little better at it – what a fun challenge that is!
